Dr. Cheddi Jagan
1918-1997

We share with you this tremendous loss. He has left us a legacy that will live as Guyana lives. We must let him know He is our Hero for indeed he has fought a good fight. And now, The Lord wants him to go to rest. May He rest in God's care.

Our deepest sympathies to Mrs Janet Jagan and family and the people of guyanaon the loss of its number one Hero. Dr. Jagan through his simplicity, sincerity, honesty and unrelenting desireto free his people has started on Guyana back on the road to freedom and out of the downward spiral of pain and misery it had been driven into. His trustworthiness in a time when this quality is hard to find in a politician is unquestionable to all those whose lives he touched. As the great philosopher Mr. L. Ron Hubbardwrote, "on the day when we can trust each other there will be peace on earth." Dr. Jagan has shown the people of Guyana that they can trust each other regardless of race or creed, and he has started Guyana back on the route to peace.May his dream for Guyana and the prospering course he has set for it live on forever. From the Jagdat family from Windsor Forest.

Dear Dr. Cheddi Bharat Jagan,How many people, from around the world, can say that they knewtheir nations' leaders? Not many. But we Guyanese and so many others, not only knew you, but grew up with you, learnt from you, came to admire, respect and love you.As a boy in Berbice I remember how you visited my mother's house and, when we were seeing relatives in Port Mourant and Bound Yard,we visited you. I remember how you worked on my teeth for free and, even all those years ago, how much hope youhad for young Guyanese. Dr. Jagan, if we have become successful or simply learnt the values of truth, integrity, honour and kindness and, most of all, perserverance, it is largely because of you. You gave us the will and leadershiptoward democracy, chances to learn at home and abroad, but above all you gave us yourself. And for this I am truly thankful.I never thought that I would have to say good-bye, but...It has been a privilege Sir.Go in peace Dr. Cheddi.Raymond (Tarzan) Budhu

I am from Ankerville, Port Mourant. I born and grew up next to the birth place of our late President. My whole life he was some where fighting for his people. I can't believe he is gone. Guyana will never be the same without him. I feel like I have lost a great part of my life.I am happy that he died being the President. He wanted to be President again and he got his wish. I think it's about time he got some rest. Mrs.Jagan, you are not the only one who lost something special. I am here feeling the pain and I think every single Guyanese in America and around the world is also feeling the same as me.I met him only once. His brother in Ankerville was having a religious function and he attend it. I will never forget that day. I was nine years old then, now I am nineteen and I can still remember it as if it were yesterday.I will remember him as a hero, not only for myself but for everyone. When I have children, I will definitely inform them about our "GREAT LEADER". As long as there is a Guyana, there will always be a Dr.Jagan. Mohd Hanif & Debbie Kowlassar

Dear Mrs.Janet Jagan,Joey,Nadira, the brothers and sisters of President Cheddi Jagan, and the Guyanese people ,both at home and abroad we would like to convay our deepest syampthy on the death of Guyana's greatest son, His excellency Dr. Cheddi B. Jagan, father and teacher of the Guyanese nation. We like tens of thousands of Guyanese and other peoples around the globe feel a sense of individual loss ans tremendous grief. Dr.Jagan son of indendured servant was a teacher, thinker, philosopher, humanitarian and visionary as rear as Ghandi, Nehru,Lennin, and Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. Jagan initiated the struggle against the colonialist and imperialist in Guyana and the West Indies and history will record this to be the truth. Dr.Jagan will live in the hearts of progressive forever and ever. As for his detractors ,and they are few, who claim that Dr. Jagan was a poor fighter must remeber that with one hand, he was battling Goliath and with the other Ravan. In 1992 Dr. Jagan triumph against the two evisls. As long as ther are places like Black Bush Polder and institutions like the University of Guyana(Jagan night school) Dr. Jagan's legacy will continue to live. As Guyanese and progressive people the world over murn the death of this great revolutionary , let us renew our pledge and effort to fulfill Dr. Jagan's dream to make Guyana a place where all the six races can live in peace, prosperity and harmony. We must also petition the Government to erect an everlasting memorial in Guyana as a permanent tribute to the Father of the Guyanese nation.Latchman Mohabir, Jasmatie Mohabir, Davi and Deonarine Mohabir
